On a Mission

Dear Business Owner,

I really, really want to help business owners BE HAPPY! I have been one most of my adult life. I know the bitter heartache, the paralyzing stresses, and the “go ape-shit” wins tied to being a business owner. I’ve gone down the hard path many times and the easier one a few. The gauntlet of the business owner’s life is real and ever present.

There is no occupation more demanding, all-encompassing, and unforgiving than being a business owner.

I built a business from 2 people, sparse on experience, to almost 30 people and over $5M in 8 years. Everything was trial by fire and the scars of knowledge didn’t come cheap. The experience gained is invaluable, but if I could go back, I’d do twice as much in half the time. Wherever those numbers sit on your success meter, the harsh reality is that more than 99% of businesses don’t even come close to those numbers…ever.

I’ve spent a lot of time racking my brain on how I could contribute to a business owner’s success.

I think I might have a lot of great ideas but I know that the last thing a business owner wants (or even has the time for) is more ideas. A business owner needs motivation when things don’t go well. Someone to push them past the comfort zone. Someone to point out the bumps in the road ahead. And sometimes to simply say “don’t do that.”

I’m not about the 6 steps to earning 6 figures kind of guy. Or even the “here is what I did, you can do it too, just follow this proven method to make millions.” BS! If I’ve learned nothing else in this world, I have learned that nothing worth having comes easy. There is no easy money.

I’m speaking to the owner that knows you have to grind it out at the “gym of business” for several hours a day. Every single day, in addition to all other life demands. That is the only way to get the kind of jaw dropping results business owners really desire.

I had a business coach for 8 of the 10 years I’ve been running my current business. Do I think having a coach has been critical to my business success? Absolutely, and I honestly didn’t even come close to maximizing the opportunity of having one. I want EVERYONE to have a business coach.

The greatest of the greatest in the world have coaches. This is an undeniable fact. The kind of hands on attention a coach provides is exceptionally critical to success. From pee-wee leaguers to the pros, imagine a game where the players were just dumped onto the field without a coach?

Some day, I want to spend every waking hour doing nothing but being a business coach. Frankly, I’m just not in a place where I can commit quite yet. Maybe soon. In the mean time, I’m feverishly committed to helping others see the value of having a business coach.

Not enough business owners are using coaches to help their business succeed. Reasons aside, this needs to change and I’m on a mission to make it happen.
